Marist Brothers Linmeyer, an independent school in Joburg South, is proud to announce that five of our Grade 11 students have been selected to represent the school in the esteemed WITS Integrated Experience (WIE) 2025, an initiative hosted by the University of the Witwatersrand. This annual challenge sees participation from approximately fifty top schools across Gauteng, showcasing academic excellence and forward-thinking innovation.
Our selected students – Daniela Fernandes, Prem Mistry, Dominique Moore, Kaelin Pillay and Aafreen Rawoot – took part in a full-day programme at WITS University on 30 May 2025, where they attended short courses across five key faculties: Science, Engineering, Humanities, Health Sciences and Commerce and Law.
The experience was designed to immerse students in real-world problem solving and expose them to a wide range of disciplines and career paths. Through engagement with top academics and interactive sessions, participants gained insight into the interdisciplinary nature of modern challenges while developing critical twenty-first-century skills such as creative thinking, collaboration and complex problem-solving.
This years’ challenge theme is, "Preventing Day Zero – Securing Johannesburg’s Water Future". Following the initial immersion day, the students returned to school to begin developing an innovative and practical solution to the challenge. They will refine their proposal before presenting it to a panel of judges at Wits on 25 July 2025.
