Zara Sufla and Josie Dent Shine

Grade 7 Prep learners Zara Sufla and Josie Dent have made their school and province proud with their outstanding performances at the South African Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships. Both girls represented KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) with excellence, showcasing not only their talent and skill but also their dedication, perseverance, and true sportsmanship.

For Zara, the experience was nothing short of extraordinary.

“It was an unreal feeling. It was truly an honour to represent KZN,” she shared.

Her success didn’t come easily — it was the result of countless hours of commitment and training.

“I had to train three times a week and practice my dance non-stop. It took a lot of dedication and hard work,” Zara explained.

Competing in a new environment with unfamiliar competitors presented its own challenges, but she rose to the occasion with determination and grace. She credits her family for being her biggest supporters.

“My mom and my sister are always encouraging me and pushing me to do my best,” she said.

Balancing schoolwork and training often meant long nights and sacrifices, but Zara’s positive outlook kept her going.

“You’re stronger than you think. After every storm, there is beauty at the end,” she reflected.

Her next goal?

“To try to get a KZN medal,” she said with a smile.

For Josie, the experience was equally rewarding and memorable.

“It felt amazing to represent my province. I felt so proud,” she said.

Like Zara, Josie dedicated herself to her training — attending regular sessions three times a week and putting in extra hours at home. Competing at a national level brought its own pressures.

“It was stressful because there were so many people, but I just tried to remain focused,” she admitted.

Josie is grateful for her family’s constant encouragement and support throughout her journey.

“My family keeps encouraging me and always believes in me,” she said.

Her dedication often meant making tough choices and late nights.

“Sometimes you have to say no to things and just keep pushing,” she reflected.

Her biggest takeaway from the experience?

“Never give up. You’re capable of more than you think,” Josie shared.

As she looks ahead, Josie’s goal is clear:

“To finish Level 7 strong.”

Both Zara and Josie embody the values of perseverance, teamwork, and passion. Their achievements at the SA Rhythmic Championships are a testament to their hard work and determination — and they continue to inspire their peers with their commitment and spirit.
