The DSJ is a comprehensive school offering both the IEB South African National Senior Certificate (Matric) and the German International Abitur. In addition to focusing on learning the German language, culminating in the acquisition of the two language diplomas (DSD I and DSD II), our school also welcomes and integrates learners whose mother tongue is not German.
The Regentröpfchen marks the beginning of the journey through the DSJ universe. From our youngest, aged 1-3, to our English Medium High School intake classes, learners are offered a warm and nurturing environment where they are able to explore the German language and culture

Founded in 1890, the DSJ is the oldest co-educational school in Johannesburg. The unique offerings of the DSJ strongly convey the German tradition, language and culture, from grade 000 to grade 12. With learners from 32 nationalities and cultural backgrounds, we offer an international education and global opportunities, with exchange programs to Germany for grade 9 and 10 learners
The DSJ offers various sporting and cultural activities throughout the year. By encouraging the learners to participate in a variety of activities they will be able to learn skills that are not only important on the field but off the field as well. Teamwork, social skills, leadership, commitment, boosting self-esteem and of course living a healthy lifestyle, are just a few of the skills that are learned.
