Elkanah House nurtures and empowers pupil individuality, laying foundations for them to develop into well-rounded individuals who take their place confidently in the world. We embrace an inclusive Christian ethos, a whole-child approach to education, intentional staff/pupil relationship building, support and mentorship programmes, community-based projects, and the application of the Independent Examination Board (IEB) assessment methodology. We offer rich sporting, cultural, enrichment and leadership opportunities to celebrate our students’ unique talents. At Elkanah House, we believe that children should be who they are! At Elkanah House, we centre everything we do around the 3Ls, namely: Learning beyond examinations, loving beyond self and Living authentic lives. These values are at the centre of our whole-child approach to education.

We embrace an inclusive Christian ethos, a whole-child approach to education, intentional staff/pupil relationship building, support and mentorship programmes, community-based projects and the application of the Independent Examination Board (IEB) assessment methodology.

As part of our whole-child educational philosophy and our commitment to delivering the most relevant academic standards, we apply the IEB assessment methods throughout the primary and high school years. The benefits to our children are: ● progressive teaching methods are applied as our educators collaborate at cluster groups and conferences, aligning our methods to international trends ● critical thinking is nurtured as children go beyond the theory by integrating practical experiences and problem solving as a learning method; ● university advantage, as the high standards of the IEB align to the levels and skills required at university. Statistics show that 98% of IEB entrants graduate, compared to 50% of students who have been assessed through another examining body; ● the ability to innovate and create is acquired through the IEB learning methods, which are crucial 21st century skills, enabling children to have a competitive edge and create self-sustainable opportunities.

We believe that students develop confidence and intelligence through their cultural activities. Whether they are singing on the stage, mastering a musical instrument, debating an environmental agenda, painting a masterpiece or competing in a chess match, students learn social skills, interdependence, perseverance, freedom of expression and confidence. They fundamentally build their ability to relate to the world in a creative manner. We offer a wide variety of cultural activities and have achieved many accolades as a school for our stellar stage productions, musical ensembles, dance achievements and debating awards. We also offer music, visual art, design, dance and drama as subjects through to Grade 12.

At Elkanah House, we understand the importance of physical health for academic progress. We believe that children develop many life skills on the sports field and we encourage both participation and healthy competition. Our philosophy is benchmarked on international best practice aimed at developing physical health and winning attitudes. Our programme includes a range of individual and team sports including netball, cricket, cross country, hockey, soccer, swimming, tennis, water polo and softball. We also offer many enrichment opportunities that allow students to develop their outdoor interests, including zumba, hiking, body-boarding and yoga, amongst others.
